Edvard Munch

Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter. His best known work, The Scream, has become one of Western art's most iconic images. His childhood was overshadowed by illness, the death of his mother and sister, and the dread of inheriting a mental condition that ran in the family, and this emotional stress can be seen in many of his paintings. He lived from 1863 to 1944.
